In the evening of the 12th, at about 6.00pm, the high speed exibition was officialy opened.
All photographer told a little bit of their work and theirphotographs.
Also Daniel spoke about his photos. (video follows soon...)
All in all it was a very successful weekend. On Sunday we left Hickory and went back to Boston.
Us standing in front of the Piddler
Laughing at the other Piddler, which is definitely not that popular as ours
on our 8th day in the USA we have set up our Piddler in the Art Center of Hickory (North Carolina). After that Bob Edgerton gave us
a short presentation of his fathers and his life, including the work with High Speed Photography.
here are some photos of the more than fascinating Piddler:
on our third day in boston we went to "home depot", a big hardwarestore in Southern Boston. We were looking for
materials for the case of our "Piddler" as we found a washbasin. We thought that this would be the best alternative to
realize the "Piddler" in a funny and special way, so we have bought it.
In the afternoon we began to work at the case. At approximately 8.00pm, after many discussions regarding the realization, the first
attractive solution was found - see the pictures below.

Introduction
2006
English version:
At the beginning of the summerterm of the fourth class we were asked by our teacher Prof. Hebenstreit, if we – in co-operation with the MIT- would like to develop an exhibit for an appropriate exhibition. Primary high speed photos should be displayed, but also things, which have to do something with optic. Encouraged by the interesting issue we decided to work actively for this project.
We were searching for an applicable idea as found the so- called “Piddler”. The “Piddler” should show the movement of waterdrops in a waterjet and test our optical sense, because it inspire the appearance that the flows backwards.
Finally we decided to build this object for the exhibition in an easy way. In April of the year 2007 the exhibition, which lasts two weeks, was opened in the “Kulturstadtsälen der Stadt Wolfsberg”. The slogan was “2fast4u”. After the presentation of our object in this two weeks Daniel Pressl, who has organized the exhibition, said that he is planning an event like this one in the USA.
We found that this was a great chance to develop the “Piddler” in a professional way for the exhibition in North Carolina. This task should be accomplished within the scope of our thesis and presented in April 2008 in the USA.
Hello , If you want to know something about the adapters of the project "Piddler" (HTL- Wolfsberg) look at the following lines...
Hi, my name is Bernhard and I am 19 years old. I come from Wolfsberg, its a small town in Austria.
At the moment i attend the HTL-Wolfsberg. Hobbies: playing computer, going out, cycling, drawing ...
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello, my name is Markus Dohr and I am 18 years old. I live in a small village near Wolfsberg.
I have been attending the HTL (main focus: engineering) since 2003, too. Hobbies: playing soccer, skiing, ....
Hopefully you are interested in our work - we are trying to post our progresses regularly.
hello everyone!
First of all: Maybe the word Piddler puts up the question, what is that? If you want to know look at the following page :-)
Here is a short list, which contains the tasks of the school- project "Piddler" :
(adapters: Dohr Markus, Heine Bernhard)
1. The main task is to build a stroboscope. This will be realized by programming a microcontroller (with C), which actuates LEDs. Besides the frequency should be displayed on an LCD. The flash power and the frequency will be varied with a potentiometer.
2. Another important task is the ciruit design. According to point 1 we are trying to work with a 24V power-supply (and an additional power-supply for the necessary pumps). This means that there are no special safety measures to consider.
3. Construction: for the frame we are using defined tread elements from the company Bosch.
4. Two pumps are designated, which are in charge of the watercircuit.
All this should happen in the following weeks. We have planned to finish the work at the project in the first week of March.
Deadlines:
Programming: 15th of January
circuit design: 30th of January
Construction: 15th of February
Assembly: till March
